Christie still not looking at presidential run

By Cameron Joseph - 08/17/11 12:50 PM ET

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) is definitely not running for president, and has not conducted focus groups to test a run, two senior Christie advisers told The Hill on Wednesday afternoon.

Bloombergs Jonathan Alter tweeted earlier in the day that Christie had hired focus groups to test the waters of a presidential run. But Mike Duhaime, Christies top adviser, categorically denied the report and said Christie has not reconsidered his decision to forgo a 2012 presidential run.

It’s completely untrue — 100 percent that is not true, Duhaime said of the claim that Christie had hired the focus groups. Nothing’s changed. I’m not sure who [Alter’s] source is or what they are saying, but nothing’s changed.

Republican National Committeeman Bill Palatucci, another Christie confidant, concurred. When asked if the report was true, he said "absolutely not."
