Tancredo forms anti-immigration super PAC

By Cameron Joseph - 08/17/11 02:04 PM ET

Former Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-Colo.) has filed the paperwork for a "super" political action committee that can raise unlimited donations to spend for candidates that oppose illegal immigration, according to The Denver Post.

Tancredo, an anti-immigration hard-liner who ran for the GOP presidential nomination in 2008 and as the Constitution Party's candidate for Colorado governor in 2010, told the Post that the super PAC, named the American Legacy Alliance, has not yet "raised a dime."

The group will likely target politicians it believes do not strongly oppose illegal immigration.

Its website features a photo of white children paired with text that includes "Will they have any use for English in their own country?"

Tancredo had a strong performance as a third-party candidate in the Colorado governor's race last election, taking 36 percent of the vote against now-Gov. John Hickenlooper (D).
