Cain: God told me to run for president

By Cameron Joseph - 11/12/11 03:45 PM ET

Herman Cain told a crowd Saturday that God had convinced him to run for president.

"I prayed and prayed and prayed," Cain told a group of young Republicans in Atlanta, according to National Journal. "I’m a man of faith, I had to do a lot of praying for this one, more praying than I’d ever done before in my life. And when I finally realized that it was God saying that this is what I needed to do, I was like Moses. 'You've got the wrong man, Lord. Are you sure?'"

Cain has slipped in the polls a bit amidst allegations of sexual harassment from four women. But he promised that he was "in it to win it."

He, along with the other Republican presidential candidates, will appear at Saturday night's foreign policy debate in South Carolina.
