Pro-abortion-rights group running radio ads defending Obama

By Cameron Joseph - 02/13/12 12:27 PM ET

NARAL Pro-Choice America, a group that supports abortion rights, is airing radio ads defending President Obama for seeking to require that all insurance companies cover contraception in their basic plans.

The $250,000 radio ad buy is spread out in media markets in four swing states. It will air in Colorado, Florida, Wisconsin and Virginia.

The ad thanks Obama for the decision, which has drawn fire from the Catholic Church and many conservatives.

"We scored an important victory when the president stood up for our healthcare and guaranteed insurance coverage of birth control at no cost," says the ad's narrator. "He's making sure women of all faiths, no matter where they work, can get contraceptive coverage. But extremists in Congress are trying to change the policy by making it harder for women to get birth control with no co-pay."
