Romneys donate $150,000 in personal funds to campaign

By Cameron Joseph - 05/18/12 04:48 PM ET

Mitt and Ann Romney have invested their own money in his presidential bid, each donating $75,000 to the joint Romney-Republican National Committee Victory Fund for the month of May.

The $150,000 total is the maximum the two can legally give to the joint committee, and marks the first time they have donated to his race this cycle.

The Hill confirmed the donation, which was first reported by CNN. It will appear in the committee's May report to the Federal Election Commission.

In 2008, Romney spent $41 million of his own money on the presidential race.

Earlier this week, Romney's campaign announced it and the RNC had jointly raised more than $40 million in April.
