Conservative group in Colorado to greet Obama with radio attack ad

By Josh Lederman - 05/23/12 09:55 AM ET

A conservative outside group in Colorado will greet President Obama's visit to the state with radio ads mocking him as a celebrity and a failure.

Compass Colorado has bought time on two Denver-area stations to air the ad.

Obama is set to travel to Colorado on Wednesday to give the commencement address at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, and to attend a fundraiser in Denver.

The ad reenacts an imaginary conversation between two college graduates.

"Hey, let’s go to the Obama rally on campus," says the first graduate.

"No way. I’m not going again. Not after his broken promises," says the second.

The students lament their student-loan debt and living with their parents before a narrative says Obama has celebrity status and failed policies.

Compass Colorado has been spending frequently this cycle — albeit in modest quantities — to attack Democratic candidates for the House, and the state's Democratic governor. Earlier in May, the group placed 28 billboards throughout the state attacking Obama and three Colorado Democrats on energy issues by showing them alongside Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
