St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman (D) tweeted late Monday that he was barring Trump from his city "until we fully understand the dangerous threat posed by all Trumps."

A slew of political figures, including a number of Republican presidential rivals and former Vice President Dick Cheney, has slammed Trump's idea, calling it un-American and unconstitutional.
Trump defended his proposal during a series of television interviews Tuesday morning where he argued that the temporary "shutdown" was necessary amid the fight against Islamic militants.
