Obama racks up battlegrounds of Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin

By Jonathan Easley - 11/06/12 10:30 PM ET

Republicans argued Romney had an opening to expand the map in a push for 300 electoral votes, while Democrats said it was a desperate ploy because Romney was trailing in the critical swing state of Ohio.

Pennsylvania is the second-largest swing state delegate prize with 20 electoral votes.

Most polling analysts believed Michigan and Wisconsin to be safely in Obama’s column heading into Election Day, and neither candidate spent much time in either state recently.

Despite the losses, Romney still has a realistic path to 270 electoral votes. The election on Tuesday will be decided in the remaining handful of swing states that are presently too close to call — New Hampshire, Florida, Virginia, Ohio, Colorado and Iowa.
