"Hmmm, wondering why @GOP trying to hide their #GOPdebate on the Saturday of #SuperBowl weekend no less?!" the congresswoman wrote Saturday, hours before the debate.

Wasserman Schultz has previously faced criticism for the lack of Democratic debates during the 2016 election and the timing of those debates, including on holiday weekends and one on a Saturday night before big NFL football games.

She clarified shortly afterward that tweet was a tongue-in-cheek critique of the pushback the DNC faced for its debates.

".@TheDemocrats debates set viewer records. Both parties' broadcast network debates on wknds. Replies to SuperBowl #GOPdebate make my point," she wrote.
