The endorsement comes ahead of Tuesday’s Nevada caucuses for the GOP.

Amodei, who became the second Nevada lawmaker to back Rubio on Sunday, cited the Florida senator’s conservative record and Nevadan roots.

“Marco Rubio is a principled, consistent conservative who can bring people together to get things done,” he said in a statement. “Having grown up here in Nevada, Marco understands firsthand the issues we face as a state including our significant disagreements with the federal government over public lands.

“Marco will be a tremendous friend to Nevada and we have a unique opportunity in helping elect him to the White House,” he added. “I am confident that Marco Rubio can unite our party and our country.”

Amodei represents Nevada’s 2nd district, which includes Carson City and Reno.
