Former Bush communications director Tim Miller called Christie “pathetic” and suggested he bonded with Trump over a “big meal,” an apparent reference to Christie's weight.

And former chief strategist David Kochel compared the endorsement to a “fat kid” surrendering his lunch money to a “bully.”

Christie said at his endorsement on Friday that Trump is the only candidate in the GOP primary field prepared to be president.

“I’ve been on that stage. I’ve gotten to know all the people on that stage,” he said. “And there is no one better prepared to provide America with the strong leadership that it needs both at home and around the world than Donald Trump.”
