"Well, I understand what they're saying because it's been a very tough campaign," he said of Republicans who have floated the idea of running an independent candidate if the billionaire wins the GOP nomination.
"It's been a very nasty campaign, and they were with somebody else, and the somebody else may not be in the race any more, and there were a lot of hard feelings, so I understand it."
"But just let me tell you, a third party guarantees — not 90 percent or 99 percent, 100 percent — that Democrats will win. Probably Hillary, I guess it's Hillary, looks like it if she gets to the starting gate, which she probably will, frankly," he added.
Exit polling from states that voted on Tuesday showed that over a third of GOP primary voters would consider a third-party candidate if Trump faces off against Clinton in the general election.
