“Crooked Hillary wants to get rid of all guns and yet she is surrounded by bodyguards who are fully armed. No more guns to protect Hillary!” Trump tweeted Saturday morning.
Trump’s tweet came a day after he was endorsed by the National Rifle Association (NRA) at the gun group’s annual convention.
Speaking to the NRA on Friday, Trump repeatedly railed against Clinton, calling her “the most anti-gun, anti-Second Amendment candidate ever to run for office.”
Repeatedly slamming her as “heartless Hillary,” Trump on Friday also called for Clinton’s Secret Service protection to disarm.
“Let’s see how they feel walking around without their guns and their bodyguards,” he said.
Trump has often insisted on the campaign trail that Clinton wants to ban all guns. Clinton has not called for the end of gun ownership, but instead pushed “common-sense reforms.”
“I know we are a smart enough nation to figure out how you protect responsible gun owners’ rights and get guns out of the hands of people who shouldn’t have them,” Clinton said in February.
