Libertarian nominee suggests Jeb Bush may back him
Johnson told CNN he had had conversations with Bush, noting he did not initiate them, according to Politico.
“You don't go from being Republican-elected — you don't go from being the Republican nominee to say, 'Hey, I'm supporting Gary Johnson,’ ” Johnson told CNN.
“You go to say, ‘Hey, I'm going to look at his campaign,’ ” he added.
Johnson said he hoped to gain more support from Republicans as they find “a lot of common ground” between the GOP and the Libertarian Party.
Johnson has 13 percent support nationally in the most recent CNN poll. He can make the stage at this fall’s presidential debates if he gets up to 15 percent.
