The pair were talking about the 2005 recording of the Republican presidential nominee making lewd comments about women that became public last week and has dominated the presidential campaign ever since.

"That kind of banter goes around all the time. Is it the right kind of thing to do? Absolutely not," Carson told Keilar, explaining that he had heard such talk.

Keilar questioned what kind of people Carson is "hanging out with" that he would hear people talking like that.

"As I was growing up, people were always trying to talk about their sexual conquests and trying to make themselves appear like Casanova. I'm surprised you haven't heard that. I really am," Carson told Keilar.

"I haven't heard it, and I know a lot of people who have not heard it," Keilar replied.

"Well maybe that's the problem. Maybe that's the problem," Carson said. "People have not heard this. Maybe that's the problem.
