The trio of top Republicans all plan to head to the state at different points to help Cuccinelli, who polls suggest narrowly trails Democrat Terry McAuliffe in the race.

Virginia's governor's race is always a top priority to the parties, and heading to the state could help the prospective candidates build goodwill with the state's GOP establishment, many of whom are also major D.C. power players and donors.

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R) and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) have also been in the state to help Cuccinelli.
