Kentucky Senate candidate makes $400K loan to campaign

The campaign of Kentucky Senate candidate Jack Conway (D) announced a $1.4 million fundraising quarter Tuesday, but $400,000 of that came in the form of a personal loan from the candidate.

With the loan included, Conway pulled in slightly more this quarter than opponent Rand Paul (R), who raised $1.1 million. Neither candidate has released their cash on hand numbers ahead of Thursday's FEC filing deadline

The Paul campaign, meanwhile, is hitting Conway over attending a fundraiser held during a convention of trial lawyers in Canada. Conway joined Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and at least seven other Democratic senators at the event.

The latest poll numbers out of the state showed Paul and Conway tied at 43 percent.
