Matt Bevin, Sen. Mitch McConnell’s (R-Ky.) primary challenger, apologized Friday for his appearance at a cockfighting rally earlier this month and said he doesn’t support the practice.

Bevin’s extensive statement on the issue followed a day of negative press for the candidate after an undercover video of the event revealed that Bevin was in fact aware that it was a cockfighting rally, despite his previous claims of ignorance.
