Cochran attack ad hits challenger over supporter's arrest

Sen. Thad Cochran's (R-Miss.) campaign is out with an ad attacking Mississippi state Sen. Chris McDaniel's (R) campaign over the arrest of a supporter who allegedly filmed Cochran's wife.

"It's the worst: A Chris McDaniel supporter charged with a felony for posting video of Sen. Thad Cochran's wife in a nursing home. Had enough?" the ad's narrator says.

The spot marks the first time Cochran's campaign has put the scandal on the air, though the back-and-forth over the video has dominated news of the campaign for the past week.

The race has gotten increasingly nasty as it heads into the homestretch before next Tuesday's GOP primary.
