Senate field to replace Walsh shrinks

Another Democrat has decided not to run for Sen. John Walsh's (D-Mont.) seat, shrinking the field of serious competitors at this Saturday's Democratic state convention to Wilsall rancher Dirk Adams (D) and Montana state Rep. Amanda Curtis (D).

Montana state Sen. Dave Wanzenried (D) ruled out a bid because of potential health problems for his wife that recently cropped up, according to the Helena Independent Record.

Neither remaining candidate is well-known. Democrats have given up on winning the seat in the wake of Walsh's plagiarism scandal and subsequent decision to drop out of the race. Rep. Steve Daines (R-Mont.) is all but a lock to move to the upper chamber this fall.
