Reps. Bachmann, King back Akin for Senate seat

Republicans Reps. Michele Bachmann (Minn.) and Steve King (Iowa) endorsed Rep. Todd Akin's (R-Mo.) bid for the Senate in Missouri on Thursday.

King will also appear on the campaign trail for Akin in Kansas City, Mo., and Jefferson City, Mo., over the weekend.

Both Bachmann and King are major Tea Party figures and prominent social conservatives.

Akin is competing in a three-way primary for the GOP nomination to take on Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.).
