The Kyrillos campaign said Thursday that it had "raised over $1.75 million as of its first deadline on March 31," leading multiple news outlets, including The Hill, to report what would have been a very fruitful first quarter.

But pressed for further details a day later, the campaign said the number also included everything since Kyrillos started exploring a run last summer. Because he didn't declare himself a candidate until January, the first-quarter report was the first his campaign had to file with the Federal Election Commission.

Campaign manager Chapin Fay said exact numbers weren't available, but that about $900,000 was raised during the first quarter and about $800,000 in 2011.
