Republican strategist Karl Rove will travel to Connecticut on Thursday to campaign for former Rep. Christopher Shays (R-Conn.), who is making a go for the state's open Senate seat.

Shays is running almost 30 points behind wrestling mogul Linda McMahon in the GOP primary, but some Republicans are concerned that McMahon would be less electable in the general election.

"Republicans can win the majority in the United States Senate this year and Connecticut Republicans can make a big contribution to making that happen by nominating Christopher Shays," Rove said."He's the Republican who can win in November."
