GOP vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan will be campaigning with fellow Wisconsinite and U.S. Senate candidate Tommy Thompson (R), as a battery of polls have shown Thompson's former lead washed away by his opponent, Rep. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.).
Ryan will attend a reception for Thompson on Oct. 14 at the Harley Davidson Museum in Milwaukee. He will be in town for a fundraiser of his own later that night, according to The Associated Press.
“I know the people of Wisconsin will welcome Paul home as warmly as I do because they share our vision of responsible reforms, lower taxes and reducing government spending — a vision that will build a stronger and more prosperous America,” Thompson said in a statement Tuesday.
After leading in a potential match-up against Baldwin throughout the year, Thompson’s lead diminished following a hard-fought primary. Thompson admitted last month that the primary left him “broke.”
Baldwin currently holds a 5-percentage-point lead, according to the Real Clear Politics average.
