The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is pouring another $500,000 into the Arizona Senate race to extend their current ad buy for an additional week, a Democratic source tracking ad buys tells The Hill.
It's a continuation of their first foray into a race that looks surprisingly competitive for the Democrats, and will last until Oct. 15. Overall, the group has spent more than $1.5 million in the state on combined independent and coordinated expenditures.
The extended buy comes as Richard Carmona announced raising $2.2 million in the third quarter, double what the candidate raised the quarter prior. He's outperformed President Obama in most recent polls, holding GOP Rep. Jeff Flake to a single-digit lead and leading him slightly in the most recent poll.
The National Republican Senatorial Committee also invested in the race this week, spending $550,00 on a buy to run through Oct. 11.
