Maggie's List Chairman Sandra Mortham called Capito "a strong candidate" with "the right ingredients for victory."
Capito's entry into the race was an early recruiting victory for Republicans, and she's poised to make a strong showing in red-leaning West Virginia.
In her bid for the seat, Capito has the added advantage of being a woman, representing a swath of voters with which the GOP had trouble in 2012.
