Former Sen. Scott Brown (R ) decided not to run again for Massachusetts Senate because, he said Wednesday night during his Fox News debut, he felt he could make a bigger difference outside of a "dysfunctional" Congress.
“To do five races in six years and raise another $30-$50 million and then and participate in a Congress that’s really dysfunctional and extremely partisan — I felt I could make a difference being on this show and doing other things,” he said on Hannity.
“I plan to stay involved certainly, but, you know, I’m going to continue to work and be part of the election process back home and other elections around the country.”
Brown, had he chosen to run in the upcoming special election to replace Secretary of State John Kerry, would've had to run again in 2014 to defend his seat if he won.
Following a hard-fought race against Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), Brown chose instead to enter the private sector, joining the board of a paper company and signing with Fox News as a contributor.
His exit from the race leaves the Massachusetts GOP with just two candidates thus far announced: State Rep. Dan Winslow and local businessman Gabriel Gomez.
Democrats will see Reps. Stephen Lynch and Edward Markey face off in the April 30 primary.
