Kingston joins crowded GOP field in Ga. vying for Senate nomination

In the interview, Kingston acknowledged that the Republican primary fight had the potential to bruise the eventual nominee.

“I think a Democrat has a shot under certain circumstances — if we come out of the primary divided and broke and bloody,” he said. “If I’m the nominee, a Democrat will not have that shot.”

The Savannah-based congressman is planning a media tour through the state Thursday and Friday. He has already raised $850,000 in the past quarter, an indication he has been planning his Senate bid.
