Newark Mayor Cory Booker (D) is getting another big boost in his New Jersey Senate campaign from his celebrity friends, this time with a September fundraiser co-hosted by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, billionaire and prominent Democratic donor Ron Burkle will host the Sept. 23 event at his California home. Other co-hosts include actress Jennifer Garner, "Ocean's 11" producer Jerry Weintraub and "Lost" producer J.J. Adams.
The Hollywood Reporter also said that Disney executive Sean Bailey, Netflix's Ted Sarandos and former U.S. Ambassador Nicole Avant will host
This marks Booker's second star-studded fundraiser. In April, Weintraub hosted a handful of Hollywood stars and producers at his home to support Booker's Senate bid.
The Newark mayor remains the heavy favorite in the Oct. 16 special election to replace the late Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.), and has had no trouble raising money for his bid. At the beginning of August, he had more than $4 million cash on hand.
