Club for Growth launches ad touting Sen. Cochran primary opponent

The 30-second spot makes no mention of Cochran, and instead charges, "Washington's a mess," noting "record debts, government-run healthcare [and] career politicians bankrupting our country."

"Had enough?" a narrator asks. "Chris McDaniel is a constitutional conservative with a backbone."

The ad notes his time in the Mississippi state legislature as a state senator, as well as his work as an attorney.

The spot comes just a few days after McDaniel entered the race, immediately snagging the endorsements of a handful of prominent national conservative groups, including the Club.

Cochran has not yet indicated whether he plans to run for reelection, but will announce his intentions later this year. The senator serves as the ranking member of the Senate Agriculture Committee, which is striving to negotiate a farm bill with the House in the coming weeks.
