Rubio makes fun of Obama teleprompter

Florida Senate candidate Marco Rubio mocked President Obama's use of the teleprompter when he addressed a conservative audience Thursday.

President Barack Obama's use of teleprompters again became the butt of a Republican's joke Thursday morning. This time Florida Senate candidate Marco Rubio threw the jab.

While speaking at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington, Rubio joked about the two massive snowstorms that recently covered the city with nearly three feet of snow.

"The president couldn't find anywhere to set up a teleprompter to announce new taxes," Rubio said of the snow accumulation.

Rubio, who is a favorite of the conservative base, added that "the blizzard may have been the best thing to happen to the economy in 12 months" because Congress could not enact any new spending bills.

Those on the right have long mocked Obama's use of a teleprompter, saying that he uses it as a crutch to artificially enhance his public speaking ability.

Rubio was speaking in front of a teleprompter, but it's not clear whether he was using it.

At the National Tea Party Convention, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) used the teleprompter meme to denigrate Obama and prop up the conservative grassroots movement.

"The Tea Party is not a top-down operation; it's a ground-up call to action forcing both parties to change the ways they’re doing business,” she said, adding that it’s bigger than any “charismatic guy with a teleprompter.”

Rubio appears to have cribbed his jab about the economy from Rep. Lynn Jenkins (R-Kan.), who tweeted last week that the absence of votes in the House due to heavy snow was a plus for taxpayers.
