NARAL Pro-Choice America on Thursday endorsed a pair of Senate candidates: Illinois state Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias and Sen. Russ Feingold (D-Wis.).
The group's second round of endorsements this cycle also included three House candidates: Rep. Rick Boucher (D-Va.), Rep. Patrick Murphy (D-Pa.) and state Sen. Ted Deutch (D) in Florida’s 19th district, where he is a near-lock to succeed former Rep. Robert Wexler (D-Fla.).
Giannoulias is in a top open-seat contest, and Republicans hope to go after Feingold if former Gov. Tommy Thompson (R) runs.
Boucher probably won't be promoting his endorsement; he represents a heavily conservative southwest Virginia district and is facing his toughest challenge in many years. Murphy faces a rematch with the man he narrowly beat in 2006, former Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick (R-Pa.).
NARAL previously endorsed two House members running for Senate -- Reps. Paul Hodes (D-N.H.) and Kendrick Meek (D-Fla.) -- as well as Reps. Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.), Betsy Markey (D-Colo.), Scott Murphy (D-N.Y.), and Mark Schauer (D-Mich.) and New Hampshire 2nd district candidate Ann McLane Kuster.
