Sen. Reid brings in $1.5M first quarter

By Sean J. Miller - 04/01/10 05:10 PM ET

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (Nev.) raised close to $1.5 million last quarter, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

The Reid campaign confirmed to the Ballot Box that the numbers were close to their final total but said they won't know the exact number for 24 hours.

Reid has said he plans to raise $25 million to defend his seat.

Republican Sue Lowden, who's considered the frontrunner for her party's nod, will report a $500,000 haul, the Review-Journal reported. She plans to match that amount with a contribution from her personal fortune.

Lowden is in a crowded primary that includes another self-funder, investment banker John Chachas (R).
