Business groups come out in force against ‘Follow the Money Act’

More than 170 business groups sent a letter to the Senate on Thursday urging lawmakers to oppose new campaign finance reform legislation that they said would curtail First Amendment rights.

The bipartisan bill, called the Follow the Money Act of 2013, would require groups engaged in political activity to disclose spending in real time.

Gomez releases tax returns, urges Markey to do the same

Massachusetts Senate candidate Gabriel Gomez (R) made $10.1 million dollars over six years and paid an effective tax rate of 21 percent, according to tax returns reviewed by the Boston Globe.

Gomez made his tax returns available for viewing for the second time this election cycle. His campaign has pressured his opponent, Rep. Ed Markey (D-Mass.), to release his own.
