Ryan was scheduled to visit the Success Academy 1 Charter School in Harlem, Newsday reported.

Demonstrators stood across the street from the school, reciting  “healthcare for all, not just for Paul” as some protesters beat drums, the report said.

Liberal groups such as the Working Families Party reportedly helped organize the protest at the school that is part of a charter network run by Eva Moskowitz, Newsday noted, who was floated as a possible Education secretary pick under Trump.

As Ryan exited the building after his visit, protesters chanted, "health care is a human right, how can you sleep at night?"

Footage uploaded by Vocativ shows Ryan leaving the school as an accordion plays in the background.

The protests come after the House narrowly passed legislation last week aimed at repealing and replacing ObamaCare.

The bill, known as the American Health Care Act, is now under consideration in the Senate.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) told NY1 on Monday that he wanted to meet with Ryan during his New York trip to discuss the House bill.
