"A great and important day at the United Nations. Met with leaders of many nations who agree with much (or all) of what I stated in my speech!" Trump tweeted.

In his first speech before the Assembly, Trump condemned North Korea's nuclear threat against the U.S., saying that the U.S. would "totally destroy" North Korea if forced to defend itself or its allies.

Trump also referred to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in the speech as "Rocket Man," a new nickname for the leader that Trump coined in a tweet earlier this week.

The president also took on Iran, calling a nuclear deal reached between Tehran and Washington an "embarrassment" to the U.S.
