Mitt Romney enjoys watching his own impersonator on the popular late night sketch show “Saturday Night Live” (SNL).
He told ABC’s Diane Sawyer he sets his DVR to record SNL so he can see actor Jason Sudeikis play his version of Mitt Romney. On the most recent episode, Sudeikis played Romney reminiscing—and singing in a bar—with a group of other actors playing GOP candidates who have dropped out of the presidential race.
Romney also said he would consider appearing on the show.
It would “depend on the nature of the skit,” Romney said in an interview airing Monday night on “ABC World News” and “Nightline.”
“I just want it be funny,” he added.
Romney’s appearance on the show would follow a precedent set by 2008 vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin, who appeared on SNL with Tina Fey, who impersonated Palin for the show several times during the last election cycle.
Palin recently called Fey’s impression of her “clever,” making clear she preferred the comedic take over Julianne Moore’s recent dramatic turn playing Palin in the HBO movie “Game Change.”
