Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) says his dream job is to be the Houston Rocket’s starting point guard, his favorite movie is “The Princess Bride,” and he despises avocado.

Those are just three personal things he shared in an interview with Iowa’s Des Moines Register Friday.

“I’d love to be the starting point guard for the Houston Rockets, and I’m confident that there is no universe in which that will ever come to pass,” the freshman senator said when asked what his dream job would be.

He also said he drives a 2011 Range Rover; he exercises by “running, lifting weights, occasionally playing basketball or tennis;” and his favorite food is “anything with cheese on it.”

Cruz is the keynote speaker at Friday evening’s annual Reagan dinner in Iowa. Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), Gov. Terry Branstad (R), and Reps. Tom Latham (R) and Steve King (R) are also among those attending.

King and Cruz are scheduled to go pheasant hunting in the Hawkeye State this weekend.

In the interview, Cruz said one of his favorite photos on his iPhone is of his two daughters, Caroline and Catherine, watching their dad as he delivered his 21-plus hour speech last month.

“Absolutely nothing I have done in the U.S. Senate has impressed Caroline one bit except for reading ‘Green Eggs and Ham,’ he said. Caroline is 5. “That was the one moment where she said, ‘OK, Dad, that was pretty cool.’"

As for who should win the World Series, Cruz said the Houston Astros, but said “unfortunately, that’s not going to happen this year.”
