Poll: 92 percent say Gulf spill is 'out of control'

More than 90 percent of Americans think the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is "out of control," according to a new CNN poll.

A full 92 percent of respondents said the situation was "out of control," compared to just 7 percent who called is "under control."

About half of respondents, 51 percent, say the Gulf of Mexico will never fully recover.

Other findings include:

68 percent of respondents want more regulation of the oil industry;

72 percent favor "Barack Obama's proposals to develop alternative sources of energy and reduce the amount of oil and other fossil fuels that are produced and used in this country";

69 percent believe such plans will increase jobs.
