Chambliss calls for changes to Afghan civilian team

President Obama should make changes to the diplomatic team handling Afghanistan, a member of the Armed Services Committee said today.

Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.) told CNN's State of the Union that Special Representative to Afghanistan Richard Holbrooke and Ambassador to Afghanistan Karl Eikenberry aren't getting the jobs done.

"I think that ought to be looked at right now," Chambliss said when asked about changes to the civilian side. "The fact is, I don't know that [Holbrooke] even talks to Karzai now."

Last week, three other members of the Armed Services Committee--Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.)--also urged President Obama to consider changes to the civilian team.
