Sen. Lieberman: Steele's war comments had a 'positive boomerang effect'
Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) on Sunday called the statements made by
Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele “unfortunate,”
but said that they ultimately had a “positive boomerang effect.”
The
reason for the boomerang effect is the “heartening” reaction of leading
Republicans in the aftermath of Steele’s statements questioning the
Afghanistan war, the senator said on "Fox News Sunday."
Lieberman said that he was encouraged that the GOP reaction showed that Republicans in Congress are not going to turn the war in Afghanistan “into another political battleground.”
