Poll: Americans not optimistic about Afghanistan
Just one-fifth of likely voters believe the situation in Afghanistan will improve over the next six months, according to a new Rasmussen poll.
Twenty percent of respondents said the war will improve, while 39 percent expect it to get worse. Thirty-two percent think it will remain the same.
Only 39 percent believe the United States is winning the war, down from 50 percent in February, while 23 percent believe the terrorists have the upper hand.
Nor are Americans optimistic about the situation in Iraq. Just 28 percent believe the situation there will improve, compared to 24 percent who expect it to deteriorate.
