Reid gets ahead of himself on Obama signing Wall St. reform
Fresh off a victory on financial reform legislation, Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) got a little ahead of himself when predicting when President Obama would sign the legislation into law.
At the beginning of a post-vote press conference, Reid announced that Obama would sign the legislation within hours.
"The president, I believe, will sign this bill today," Reid said.
That contradicted what White House press secretary Robert Gibbs told reporters Thursday, suggesting Obama would not have time for a signing ceremony until late next week at the earliest.
Someone must have reminded Reid about that, because within a few minutes he corrected himself.
"The president won't sign the bill until next week," he said.
