Biden brushes off fired Gen. McChrystal’s comments
Vice President Joe Biden said he “didn’t take it personally at all” when he heard of now-fired Gen. Stanley McChrystal’s comments about him in Rolling Stone magazine.
“Compared to what happens in politics, that was a piece of cake,” Biden said in an interview broadcast Sunday on ABC’s “This Week.” He suggested he came under attack from McChrystal over strategy differences, noting he “offered a plan that was different in degree.”
Obama fired McChrystal, who had been commander of forces in Afghanistan, last month over the article that quoted the general and his aides criticizing the president and other administration officials.
McChrystal, in the story, jokes that he doesn’t know who Biden is, while an adviser says “Biden? Did you say: Bite me?”
Biden said he was asked to query six present and former four-star generals and all agreed McChrystal should have been fired.
