Obama gifts Cameron a color lithograph
President Obama gave British Prime Minister David Cameron a color lithograph as a gift upon his first visit to the White House as leader of the United Kingdom.
Obama gave Cameron and his wife a framed and signed color lithograph titled, “Column with Speed Lines,” illustrated by pop artist Ed Ruscha, according to the White House.
The gift is markedly different from the set of classic DVDs Obama game Cameron’s predecessor as prime minister, Gordon Brown. That gift to the Labour Party leader, who lost his reelection to Cameron earlier this year, was perceived as a faux pas, as far as diplomatic gifts go.
First lady Michelle Obama gave Samantha Cameron, the prime minister’s wife, a gift basket that included a baby basket. (Mrs. Cameron is pregnant and opted not to make the trip to the United States.)
The Cameron children received a silver charm necklace and a custom soccer jersey for Washington’s team, D.C. United.
