Stevens to be buried at Arlington Cemetery

Former senator Ted Stevens (R-Alaska) will be buried with honors at Arlington National Cemetery, according to an announcement Friday morning.

A private ceremony for family and friends is scheduled for 1 p.m. Sep. 28.

Stevens, who was the longest-serving Republican senator in history and also a decorated World War II pilot, died in a remote Alaskan plane crash Aug. 9.

His memorial was held Aug. 16 in Anchorage.
