DNC chairman: Gibbs 'had a bad day'
Democratic National Committee Chairman and former Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine on Wednesday said that White House spokesman Robert Gibbs was having "a bad day" when he lambasted the "professional left" in an interview with The Hill last month.
During Kaine's appearance on Comedy Central's "Daily Show with Jon Stewart," Stewart brought up the "professional left" comment to illustrate what Stewart characterized as "a wedge between [Washington Democrats] and their base."
Still, Stewart was typically forthright in his questioning of Kaine and the Democrats' electoral chances, saying, "I follow the president, and I read his speeches, and I still don't know what he wants from healthcare reform."
After Kaine listed four benefits of reform that have already been enacted, Stewart replied, "Right, but my eyes glazed over when you said the second thing."
