Trump makes offer on site of proposed NYC mosque
Real estate mogul Donald Trump has offered to buy the proposed site of the embattled Park51 mosque.
Bloomberg reports that Trump has offered the price paid for the site — estimated to be between $10 million and $20 million — plus 25 percent.
Any agreement, he writes, would include terms directing that the mosque be built at least five blocks further away from Ground Zero, site of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
"I am making this offer as a resident of New York and a citizen of the United States," Trump wrote in a letter to Park51 investor Hashim Elzanaty, "not because I think the location is a spectacular one (because it is not), but because it will end a very serious, inflammatory, and highly divisive situation that is destined, in my opinion, to only get worse."
