New Zealand's prime minister, John Key, promoted Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton to a higher office in joint remarks on Thursday.

The slip came at the end of the press conference, when Key was answering a quesion about the two governments' commitment to the multilateral trade agreement known as the Trans-Pacific Partnership.

"So, President Clinton — I’m sorry," Key said, followed by laughter and then applause.

"Secretary Clinton — great. I thank you for your time here in New Zealand and I look forward to seeing President Obama when he is here in Japan next week," continued Key, who took office days after Obama's election in November 2008.
