Texas Republican wants lawmakers to be able to carry guns in D.C.
Texas Rep. Louie Gohmert (R) is writing a bill that would allow
members of Congress to carry concealed weapons in Washington, D.C.
Gohmert told reporters on Wednesday that fellow lawmakers expressed
support for such an idea for self-defense.
"I think it would be a good thing for members of Congress, who want
to, to be able to carry a concealed weapon in the District of
Columbia," the former Texas Judge said.
Under the current law, members of Congress are allowed to carry
weapons on Capitol grounds. But D.C. laws prevent citizens from
carrying concealed weapons for self-defense.
